Origin is a small-scale hatchery, nursery and organic farm located in Cochrane, Dominica.
Our mission is to help build Dominica's food security by providing local farmers with alternatives to imported inputs and supplies. We produce heritage breed fowl (chicks and ducklings), heirloom seeds, cuttings and saplings, and a variety of aquatic plants and fish for aquaculture and animal feeds.

Did you know that you can grow protein in water?
Water plants such as duckweed, hydrilla and water hyacinth grow rapidly and can be fed to livestock, greatly reducing feed costs. Add fish to the equation and you have a natural solution to some of the most significant challenges facing Dominica's agricultural sector.
We've spent over a decade transforming waterlogged swampland into productive aquaculture systems by channeling water to a network of ponds. These systems use gravity rather than electricity greatly reducing the cost of construction, maintenance and operation. This approach can be replicated on any plot of land within range of Dominica's abundant streams and rivers. We maintain a unique collection of useful plant species for farms, gardens and aquaculture. In addition to heirloom seeds, seedlings and saplings we also carry a variety of high protein grasses and shrubs for animal forage. And for aquaculture we have everything needed for complete ecosystems. We can provide bulk quantities for some varieties on request.
